On April 11, 2024, the Religious Freedom Clinic at Harvard Law School hosted a Symposium at the Harvard Faculty Club. The Symposium featured remarks by Clinic Director Professor Josh McDaniel, Harvard Law School Dean John C.P. Goldberg, and panels discussing the frontlines of religious freedom, the future of free exercise law, and bridgebuilding and religious minority perspectives.

Boston, Massachusetts

On the evening of April 11, 2024, guests of the Religious Freedom Clinic at Harvard Law School reconvened at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for a cocktail reception in the Shapiro Rotunda and Colonnade, before proceeding to the Koch Gallery. The Gala Dinner opened with an invocation by Rabbi Eli Goodman, the head rabbi of Chabad Lubavitch of the Beaches, which the Clinic has represented in federal court litigation in New York. Rabbi Goodman’s invocation was followed by remarks from Professor McDaniel and Nury Turkel, Chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, who spoke about the plight of Uyghur Muslims in China. The night also featured a fireside chat with Judge John K. Bush, Professor Ruth Okediji, and retired Judge Thomas Griffith.

New Frontiers & Emerging challenges for religious liberty

In early June, Jagiellonian University’s Center for Law and Religion, in collaboration with the Religious Freedom Clinic, hosted a conference focused on the emerging challenges in religious freedom. This gathering brought together judges, scholars, advocates, and students from around the globe to engage in meaningful discussions about the state of religious freedom worldwide. Participants explored pressing issues, shared insights, and collaborated on potential solutions, highlighting the importance of protecting this fundamental right in an increasingly complex landscape. The conference served as a platform for fostering dialogue and understanding across diverse perspectives and legal frameworks.
